139t transformer, destined for Cottam Power Station
Detailed planning ensured a 139t piece of project cargo has been safely delivered to Cottam. The incredible journey was made not by road, but by the network of waterways across North Lincolnshire.
Having been originally shipped from China to Rotterdam, the 139t transformer, destined for Cottam Power Station in North Lincolnshire, was loaded onto the MV Waterway, for shipment across the North Sea to the Port of Hull.
The barge had also been shipped from Rotterdam, arriving in the Port of Hull where local tug company, John Dean’s tugs assisted with the movement of the transformer from Hull to Cottam.
Supporting local communities
At King George Dock, Global Shipping Services provided licensed stevedores for ship to shore interface. Allelys utilised a 750t crane, whilst Global’s stevedores supported the lift. The transformer was lifted from the MV Waterway, loaded onto a 12 axle flat top trailer and shunted onto Lastdrager 19.
“Part of my role is to manage all of the different stakeholders involved in each project. I always enjoy working with Global Shipping Services as I know we’ll receive a professional level of service and their knowledge at King George Dock is a great asset to each project”,
commented Jordan Heath, Project Manager at Allelys.
