Barge launch at the Port of Goole
Recently, Global Shipping Services has safely and efficently assisted 'The Ethel Trust Charity' lifting their newly built barge into the water at the Port of Goole. The Trust provides day and residential canal and river experiences, for the most disadvantaged groups in South Yorkshire, and in 2021 all their volunteers received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
David Tuck from the Ethel Trust, wrote :-
'The Ethel Trust, a small charity based in Sheffield, recently took delivery of a new, purpose built, fully accessible wide beamed barge.
An efficient lifting operation
The new 32 ton barge, built in Warwickshire, was transported by road to Goole and the charity approached Global Shipping Services, to organise the lifting of the boat into the docks.
Global Shipping arranged mobile crane services, and as the truck carrying the barge entered the docks the team from Global showed their experience by already had the crane and slings prepared, allowing for s seamless operation. Within minutes their lifting team had the boat lifted off the trailer and into the West Dock. The volunteers from the Ethel Trust were able to take the barge out of the docks and into the canal, ready for the trip back to South Yorkshire.
Global Shipping Services have taken great pride in being involved in such a significant project, knowing the impact the barge will have for the charity and the disadvantaged groups they support.
